I believe Confederate monuments should be removed since they must feel like a slap in the face to all those who had ancestors who were slaves. The Confederacy's fight to keep slavery WAS NOT, in any way, a just cause. I have often asked myself why the South wishes to remember an unjust cause in which it participated, and I have never been able to answer that question. I know the Civil War is a part of history. I am not for removing the war from historical museums or history books--or rewriting history. However, I am NOT for celebrating the leaders who led men, many who died, many who killed fellow-Americans, to fight for slavery.
