I believe I've said this before, but haven't you noticed that people name their sports teams after things they *admire*? That's why there are major sports teams named after fierce noble animals, like lions and tigers and bears (oh my!), or eagles and dolphins and sea-hawks. They also name major teams after the jobs of their founders, such as brewers and meat-packers and steel-workers (sound familiar?). Or they name them after their own ethnic groups, like Vikings and Whalers and Forty-Niners. There is only one animal admired enough to have three major teams named after it: Colts, Chargers and Broncos. Note that there is only one ethnic group which is likewise admired enough to have three major teams named after it: the Braves, the Indians, and -- yes -- the Redskins. That is NOT a "racial slur"; on the contrary, it's a compliment.
