One Big Thing: Does changing the Hagia Sophia from a museum to a mosque limit religious freedom in Turkey?

    This is much ado about nothing. The Turks alone get to mandate what purpose this building serves. They are not demolishing Hagia Sophia, nor will they be restricting access to the monument. Precisely the opposite is happening. The monument will now be accessible without a fee and as a mosque it will receive the utmost care which will help to preserve this amazing structure. Erdogan is not doing this for the right reasons and I would prefer the separation of religion and government, however I will still plan to visit Hagia Sophia again on my next trip to Istanbul. Lastly I would suggest that the world focus on more pressing issues like the impending annexation of Palestinian land as well as the oppression of Palestian people, the Uigurs in China and the Rohyinga in Myanmar (Burma).
